Ada dua standar utama dalam menulis tanggal dalam bahasa Inggris, yaitu versi American English dan versi British English. Perbedaan ini terutama terletak pada urutan hari, bulan, dan tahun.
1. American English
Format yang digunakan di Amerika Serikat adalah bulan/hari/tahun. Jika menggunakan singkatan American English menggunakan format seperti ini mm/dd/yy → 04/15/23 atau bulan/hari/tahun

- December 25, 2024
Tips: Biasanya, di American English, koma digunakan setelah hari dalam kalimat formal.

2. British English
Berbeda dengan American English, format yang digunakan di Inggris dan sebagian besar negara lain adalah hari/bulan/tahun. Jika menggunakan singkatan British English menggunakan format seperti ini dd/mm/yy → 15/04/23 atau tanggal/bulan/tahun
Contoh:
- 15 April 2023
- 25 December 2024
Contoh dalam kalimat:
- My birthday is on 15 April 1998.
- The conference will be held on 3 November 2023.
- They are arriving on 5 July 2024.
- The report is due on 20 August 2025.
Tips: Dalam British English, koma biasanya tidak digunakan setelah hari.
Kapan Menggunakan Akhiran (-st, -nd, -rd, -th) dalam Tanggal?
Saat menulis tanggal dalam format informal, akhiran ordinal sering ditambahkan setelah angka.
Contoh:
- 1st January 2024 (First January 2024)
- 2nd February 2024 (Second February 2024)
- 3rd March 2024 (Third March 2024)
- 4th April 2024 (Fourth April 2024)
Namun, dalam format formal, akhiran ini biasanya tidak digunakan.

Informal
Biasanya untuk menulis tanggal secara informal digunakan untuk pesan singkat, percakapan sehari-hari.
